With the encouragement of his friend and painter Adrien Hébert, who also had a press, Marc-Aurele Fortin began engraving on copper and zinc. Not having studied engraving, he concentrated on etching and dry point. After the death of Marc-Aurèle Fortin, in the 70's, Janine Leroux-Guillaume, renowned engraver, made the drawing of 18 boards. Several of the boards he had executed at the time are missing, a dozen by the artist who had forgotten in a movie theater.
