Port of Montreal

Watercolour of Port of Montreal created by Marc-Aurele Fortin. The artist is fascinated by the innovation and urban changes he witnessed. In the 1920s, Fortin lived at the Maison Saint-Joseph located near the Viger Station. From his room, Fortin sees the changes that the construction of the Jacques Cartier Bridge provoke in the city. Until the completion of the bridge, Fortin went to the port and painted, draws the activity of the many vessels and tugboats.
