The hunter's meal

This camp scene with trapper and dog is drawn in brown ink and enhanced with colored pencils. This is a technique that René Richard explored in the late 1940s, a prolific decade in terms of drawings.

Also, this period is marked by its many canoe-camping trips near the Malbaie River, in the Charlevoix region. The latter will evoke many memories of the Great North when he was a trapper and a nomad. This composition thus updates his memories, but it also testifies to his most recent travels on the territory as a traveling artist.
