Lorne Bouchard

Lorne Holland Bouchard was born in Montreal in 1913. He learned drawing under the guidance of artist William Barnes. He then continued his training at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Montreal from 1928 to 1930. From the very beginning, he received encouragement from Clarence Gagnon to paint Quebec landscapes. His talent was quickly noticed by him and by Maurice Cullen.
From the age of 16, Lorno Bouchard exhibited at the Royal Academy of Canada and the Art Association of Montreal. For 11 years, he worked as a label designer at Dennison Company, then as an illustrator for Rapid Grip and Batten Limited and Bomac Limited.

Along with his career as a painter, Lorne Bouchard is recognized as an illustrator. His works are exhibited jointly with those of Kittie Bruneau, Alan Colllier and William G Roberts at the Montreal Museums of Fine Arts and at the London Museum in Ontario.

He died in Montreal in 1978.
