The painter Alexander Y. Jackson traveled the regions of the country to find the typically Canadian landscapes. Quebec is his home province that he explored on snowshoes or on foot to discover its picturesque landscapes. He visited the Charlevoix region for the first time in 1926 alongside Edwin Holgate and then returned in 1930 with Frederick Banting. He will notice the impressive amount of snow in the area, as it sank up to his waist.
