The 1968 Bestiary
In 1968, Riopelle dedicated a series of etchings to the animal kingdom, featuring subjects such as The Monkey, The Tortoise, and Wild Boar's Head. The Duck belongs to this collection, in which the artist explores the possibilities of printmaking with great freedom of line. Printed on Mandeure rag paper—a high-quality stock—this signed and numbered print is cataloged and reproduced in color in the artist's catalogue raisonné of prints.
