Throughout his artistic career, John Little has been fascinated by urbanity. He walks the streets of Montreal, Quebec and other cities in the province such as Trois-Rivières. In this composition, the choice of point of view is not trivial, the artist is passionate about working-class neighborhoods. The composition of this work alone bears witness to Quebec's urban culture. The foreground crossed by the railroad tracks is a hallmark of towns where the economy was based on pulp and paper mills. The row of houses, built on the same model near factories and which appeared in several cities during the 20th century. The whole overlooked by the Convent of the Sisters adoratrices du Précieux-Sang, a symbol of religious heritage still very present in Quebec in the 1960s.
