From 1955, Marcella Maltais moved to Montreal. She joins artists such as Guido Molinari, Marcelle Ferron and Rita Letendre. Naturally, the artist's works evolve towards abstraction. Until 1958, Marcella Maltais exhibited in several art galleries as well as at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The criticism is excellent and compares her research to the one mabe by the painters Paul-Emile Borduas and Jean-Paul Riopelle. She will devote great energy to her non-figurative works. From the height of her young age of 25, she was considered an accomplished abstract artist.
