During the 1960s, Marcelle Ferron developed a remarkably intense pictorial language, distinguished by her vigorous use of the palette knife. In Sans titre, the paint unfolds across the entire surface of the canvas in broad, thick, and rhythmic strokes, where luminous whites dominate and are punctuated by subtle traces of pigment. This energetic gesture, built through layered impasto, reveals Ferron’s distinctive style both free and structured.
Between 1953 and 1965, the artist lived in Paris, a period of great creative effervescence during which she produced numerous oil compositions characterized by vibrant colors and dynamic movement. This decade, often regarded as one of the most prolific of her career, was crowned by the Silver Medal she received at the São Paulo Biennial in 1961.
