This large-scale artwork captures the period when Beaulieu radicalized his visual language, moving away from the post-Cubist geometrization of his Parisian still lifes in favor of a powerful, organic, and lyrical abstraction.

• Graphic armature and spatial tension: The composition is driven by a network of thick, sinuous, and highly calligraphic black lines applied with sharp directionality. Rather than merely defining contours, this linework acts to segment the pictorial surface. It creates a powerful tension between the canvas's inherent flatness and the swirling loops of paint.
• Chromatic dialectic (Opacity vs. Transparency): Beaulieu orchestrates a striking contrast between the weight of dark impastos and the fluidity of surrounding color fields. Saffron yellows, textured whites, and earthy tones clash and interlock. Through scratching techniques and strategic layering, the artist allows underlying coats to peek through, generating an internal luminosity where light seems to emerge from within the canvas rather than from an external source
• Gesture and the materiality of oil: The almost topographical treatment of the oil paint gives this large format a commanding presence, where the fluid momentum of the black lines perfectly counterbalances the sedimentary density of the colored background.
