Untitled , from Cosmos Serie
Serge Lemoyne is undoubtedly one of the most important figures in art in Quebec during the 1960s. In the midst of the Quiet Revolution, Lemoyne was the first artist to create “happenings” in the province. His ultimate quest was the democratization of art. He was thus the great defender of art for all.
From 1964 to 1966, the painter created the Cosmos series. The works of this period are produced with an aerosol and are characterized by the use of fluorescent colors on a dark background.
