Catalogue raisonné's prints by Jean-Paul Riopelle # 1969.03EST.LI, p. 196.
In 1964, Adrien Maeght created the ARTE printing works located on rue Daguerre, in Paris. As early as 1966, Jean-Paul Riopelle worked closely with the technicians of this printing house and constantly pushed the limits of this printing technique. According to art historian Michèle Grandbois, Riopelle's artistic approach, in particular with regard to the print technique, gives a very particular originality: "His approach to print testifies to invention, daring and excess which will make him transgress, if not ignore the traditional rules of "fine craft" 1 ".
