Le testament de l'Oye (1990-1996)
by Jean Paul Riopelle
Numbered, '' Voirin'' paper, 77.5 x 57.5 cm
Atelier du livre de l'Imprimerie Nationale de Paris
Established in a home at Île aux Oies, Riopelle observes each year thousands of wild geese wandering from Behring Strait to California. For a few days, these geese stop on the shores of the St. Lawrence.
The box Le Testament de l’Oye represents the completion of the personnal world created by Jean Paul Riopelle about the wounded goose. The collaboration of the novelist Gilbert Erouart put words on the vision of the painter. They realize a series of lithographs grouped in a collection box.
