Les remparts, Québec
The "rue des remparts" in Quebec City is a beautiful heritage of the city's fortifications. Built under the French regime, this fortification was a strategic place of protection thanks to the clear view of the St-Laurent and Lévis. The fortification of the "rue des remparts", however, was threatened with destruction in the 19th century. The preservation of this architectural heritage was provided by Lord Dufferin who saw the great tourist potential of such a place.
