Sunset, Apple Blossoms

In 1919, the young Robert Pilot was offered the opportunity to study painting during a trip to Paris, capital of the art of the time. While Cullen and Brymner have a significant influence during his apprenticeship, the young Pilot also admires the work of many of his contemporaries: James W. Morrice, Clarence Gagnon and A.Y. Jackson will become friends, while in Europe he permeates the style of Corot and Pissarro.
