Artworks appraisal

Canadian artwork appraisal services for resale, insurance, or probate

Artworks appraisal
The Cosner Galleries’ team of advisors guides you through the process of evaluating your artworks and collectible art objects.

With our expertise in Canadian, Québécois, and international art, and our in-depth knowledge of various artistic movements, we are a trusted reference for inventorying, cataloguing, and appraising collections acquired over the years or inherited.

A THOROUGH AND PROFESSIONAL APPRAISAL PROCESS
Following an initial consultation, we will provide a quote for the complete evaluation of your collection. Our appraisers then travel on-site to conduct a detailed inventory and photograph each piece. The analysis is carried out at our art galleries in Montreal. Each artwork is appraised using strict criteria, including the purpose of the evaluation, comparable market data, and the condition of the work. A professional and unbiased report is provided, in accordance with official standards of theory and methodology.
Numerous collectors, estates, and institutions have entrusted us with evaluating their collections, whether for resale, estate planning, or insurance purposes.

An appraisal may be essential for appropriate insurance coverage, equitable division among heirs, or simply to keep your documentation up to date. Our appraisals are conducted by Sophie Ouellet, a member of the ISA (International Society of Appraisers), in collaboration with Mr. Robert Tremblay, and adhere to the rigorous standards of the USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice).

BEGINNING AN APPRAISAL

To initiate the appraisal process, our team of Canadian art specialists is available for an in-home visit, with no obligation. A gallery appointment is also possible. We invite you to send us photographs, a description of the works, and their location. Our specialists will then guide you through the next steps to complete the full evaluation and inventory of your collection.
